What is the "digital divide" and why does it matter?
The digital divide is the gap in access and ability to use modern technology and the internet, disproportionately affecting low-income communities by creating barriers to education, jobs, healthcare, and government services, thus perpetuating economic inequality, as they often can't afford devices or reliable, high-speed internet, and lack digital literacy skills, falling further behind in a society increasingly reliant on digital platforms.
