Hi, I'm Brooke, a high school kid trying to do a little good in my hometown of San Diego.

I am the founder of 2SENSE, a service that collects and donates gently used

reading eye glasses & ear phones to people in need.

 

So it all started because my mom couldn't read the small print anymore and buys lots of readers, leaving behind perfectly good ones ( that are no longer strong enough ) to collect dust. Then one day I noticed another ever-expanding pile... but this one was made up of a tangled assortment of ear phones, ear buds, and headphones my family had amassed over the years as we attempted to keep up with the evolution of our devices and technology.

 

Something about me... I LOVE MUSIC. I love music so much that I volunteer each summer at the City Heights Public Library (in a local low income neighborhood) teaching music appreciation to kids.

 

I have come to realize that being able to have access to the healing magic of music, anytime and anywhere, is not always a luxury afforded to all people, especially those affected by the "digital divide". So to alleviate simple barriers to essential life activities such as accessing services, job opportunities, and support systems, I am attempting to help make common accessories, like glasses and ear phones, free & available to all. I also believe that there should NEVER be obstacles to reading a book or listening to music! So look around your house, empty your drawers, glance in your glove box, and shoot me an email! I'll come by, clean up, fix up, and pass on your donations to our wonderful local charities and nonprofits here in San Diego.
